Palin's endorsements by the numbers (and by gender)

An analysis of Sarah Palin's primary endorsements.

From NBC's Ellie Hall
Sarah Palin has spent much of this primary season supporting her "Mama Grizzlies," touring the country to stump for female conservatives like Nikki Haley in South Carolina and Karen Handel in Georgia -- as she did yesterday.

But an analysis of her primary endorsements reveals that, so far this cycle, the former Alaska governor has actually lent her support to more men than women.

Among the 28 candidates she's endorsed, according to her Facebook page, 10 have been women and 18 have been men. And of the 12 Palin-endorsed candidates who already have faced voters, four men and four women ended up winning the GOP nomination, while two men and two women have failed to win their party's nod -- so a 67% success rate for Palin's endorsements.

(Thirteen Palin-backed candidates haven't yet had their primaries. And another three others -- Handel, Minnesota gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer, and Colorado congressional candidate Bob McConnell -- have their primaries today.)

In light of Palin's consistent message of women-powered politics -- such as her "Mama Grizzlies" Web ad, in which she proclaimed, "This year will be remembered as a year when common-sense conservative women get things done for our country" -- it's interesting to note that three out of her last four endorsements have been for men: Brian Murphy (MD-GOV), Rita Meyer (WY-GOV), John Gomez (NY-2) and Michael Grimm (NY-13).

In a few cases, Palin has purposefully not endorsed a female candidate -- like Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), with whom Palin has had a strained relationship. (Palin endorsed Murkowski's opponent in 2004 after Murkowski was appointed to the Senate by her father. Palin defeated her father in the 2006 GOP gubernatorial primary.) Palin threw her support in the race this year to Tea Party-backed challenger Joe Miller.

Palin also refrained from endorsing Colorado Senate hopeful Jane Norton when she appeared in Denver in May, despite praising the former lieutenant governor's pro-life stance in a speech in Washington, D.C., a week earlier. Her former 2008 presidential campaign running mate, John McCain, campaigned for Norton Sunday. Palin, however, did not endorse Norton's primary opponent, Ken Buck.

And why would anyone vote according to what Palin thinks (I use the word loosely). The women is a complete idiot, radical, mentally unstable, self-centered, big mouth, with lip stick. And, when given the responsibility of governor, quits before her term is completed. So, in addition to everything else, she's a quitter.

Can anyone state one logical idea she has stated about resolving any problem our country faces. And, I don't mean little winks and gotch'a statements that are her usual responses.

This is about as much of a non-story I've ever read, this site is ridiculous, yet I actually found more intelligent people in this comment section than most. I dare say though the person who wanted to know Palin's record against Democrats must not be awake yet. Those races don't happen until November. But hey what would you expect an independant like me to know. Have fun, looking for real stories now.

Dear Ms. Hall,

Your "article" is dripping with contempt for Sarah Palin. Not enough women? Gee her thus far 67% win rate is pretty good. Come November 2012 all we need is 51%..... Goodbye democrats!!!

I think her being a member of a religious cult is what scares me the most ...if you don't believe in her cult practices ..... your wrong ...I would be afraid to have her alone with my daughters..

Who in the hell cares who Palin endorses. What can this fruitcake contribute other than her cornball jokes. Whould anyone in their right mind really want this woman as "Commander-in-Chief" of anything other than perhaps a locomotive headed west?

Has anyone noticed how the left wing nuts go completely bonkers when Palin's name comes up. Why, if she is of no importance, is the left wingers afraid of her? You know if you ignore someone and not give them the publicity they might go away. It's the idiots on the left that keeps Sarah going and she is laughing all the way to the bank. As for the candidates she is supporting, she has a better record than Obama does. The democrat in Texas wouldn't even meet with Obama. Palin makes the left wingers go to the bathroom in their pants, especially the left wing MSNBC. Get a life lefties, Palin isn't running for anything.

Melin T Pigglesworth: Are you wishing GOD to help kill this person (@!$%#)? Sounds like it to me. When judgement day comes GOD will not forget your vulgarities, your bitterness and your desire for this person to be on that plane that crashed and killed people. What a sad and lonely person you must be.

The writer from Newsweek described her just right. "She seems a nasty, snotty, slightly dense but popular high school girl" I agree and I think that's why she appeals to the same type.

The latest viral video shows Sara in an unscripted moment. It is priceless. She employs the classic Nixonian trademark of deflection. Talking around the obvious, while trying to keep a "positive" spin on a "gotcha" moment. The line; "you swore on your Bible, you would uphold the the integrity of the governor's office and then you quit". Sara jumps to a tangential thought and is caught again, explaining "what exactly she is doing, now?" Fighting for those people all over America, who want to fight for the Constitution. Vacuous, air headed, pom-pom fluff...Sara has the depth of a cow-bell and trying to have a pragmatic conversation with her, is beyond the scope of her awareness. So, just keep on fighting for the Constitution and stuff, Sarah and fighting to keep America for real Americans and stuff...ya, rah, rah, rah?! I am so honored that you are so honored to think anyone would think you are a celebrity but I know I am not very much like you and we have very little in common and I don't quite get the part about fighting for the Constitution, since all you really want to do is change it and this is a run on sentence that I stuck in her to sound exactly like you sound when you talk...

Actually I find Palin fairly smart, though I would never voter for her. She quit her job as Gov of Alaska and has parleyed that into several million dollar income in just one year. Doing what: stating really nothing, solving really nothing and instituting a fear and loathing culture. Damn nice gig if you can get it.

I'll go on Fox, MSNBC or whatever prattling drivil for a couple of a million a year too. Problem is I didn't get my 15 minutes of fame that I managed to parley into a year of BS.

Well Let me see Barrack Obama who has proven to be a total arrogant idiot that says to hell with what the American people want I do what I want because I am god and I can waste three trillion dollars, call everyone who disagrees with me a racist, or a moron, and I can tell the poor to starve as I take money from the food stamps to pay my friends that voted for me the teachers unions. Or Sarah Plain who Gave Alaska a surplus and faced the corrupt oil companies and Politian's in her own [party and has with stood the constant onslaught of the liberal media idiots who look to criticize her every word. A person who has accomplished three times what Obama has ever done. Wow what a choice a honest self made woman or a cry baby tyrant that has lost 8 million jobs, gave us 15 trillion deficit and a 1.5 trillion budget that is 100 % of the GNP and has managed to mess everything up in Afghanistan and has the Union of the Customs and Immigrations voting 247 to 0 against him in a vote of no confidence and where the military absolutely hates him and now he has a 33 % approval rating among independents the ones that are not biased. I think the choice even if not the best choice is clear Sarah is like 100 times better than Obama. I think the liberals that laugh at Sarah are not seeing how many Americans are crying over the misery Obama has brought them.
