Poll: Health care law getting more popular

As we pointed out earlier this week, the Obama White House keeps talking about the economy and health care -- because even if they're unpopular in the short run, they're hoping attitudes change in the long run.

And that seems to be the case with the health-care law.

A new Kaiser Family Foundation poll, the Washington Post reports, shows that 50% have a favorable view of the law, versus 35% who hold a negative view.

The approval level was the highest for the legislation since it was enacted in March, after a divisive year-long debate. In April, the poll found 46 percent in favor and 40 percent opposed.

Though the legislative battle is over, the political tug-of-war continues. Democrats and Republicans have been fighting to shape public opinion on the issue in hopes of influencing the fall elections.

ckaster--Living in the Fox bubble I can understand why you give little credence to reality. You've been brainwashed all along to think that repeal was possible despite its implausibility. Hell you've been programmed to think that healthcare reform would be desired by no one given its death panel agenda and its deliberate plan for hastening Grandma's demise. And then along came the reality of its benefits, the stupidity of Angle, Chicken Lady, Paul and Tancredo and, gasp, healthy elderly folks in your community going about their daily lives without being bashed on the head by ambushing panelists and you lose it! How could those Commie, Liberal bastards and their Nazi leader be right!?! Now watch your head explode in November when the bubble actually implodes!

    Hello Mad,

Try this fact on for size.

I do not mind having someone make certain points but making half points is strictly BS. Now a little sobering fact. Oh bright comrade did you know that ATT pays 2.1 billion dollars a year in health care insurance for their employees? These are not the Cadillac plans. ATT by paying the $3000.00 fine for each employee under the current health care plan will save $400 MILLION dollars a year. So in essence all companies that can realize this cost saving will do so. Dear comrade you will have your single payer health plan at the cost of the best medicine in the world. Lenin would be proud of you. Have you tried the new Obama lolly pop, It was made just for suckers like you.

So Afloatinasea, you're insunating that all major companies that will see cost savings by eliminating healthcare after the new rules are in effect, will do so? Um. They don't have to offer healthcare now...so why not just scrub prior to the new rules? Your logic chain lacks something here. Companies will still need to have employees...employees will leave without good benifits. You following?

The new rules will encourage companies to cover their employees, not the other way around. This is and will continue to be a free market system, as much as concervatives LOVE to scream COMMUNISM and SOCIALISM. The government is requiring people to play in the private sector by buying insurance. That $ does not go into government pockets.

ATT pays billions in healthcare. That is a fact. That they will drop healthcare for their employees is not a fact. It's a scare tactic handed out by someone that's frustrated because they fear change...and a dumb one at that.

How many times are you going to make that same statement before you answer the obvious challenge, afloatinasea? If your argument has merit you should be ready to back it up.

Sorry afloatinsea, time's up. Thanks for playing.

Thats right Liberal idiot that you are... can't really focus on a response to my post..just repeat liberal crap and mention Fox.

death panels, I wouldn't have called them that and after listening to the words of the new Obama "recess" appointee...maybe we should bring the discussion back...he favors reduced care for the elderly/sick and admits that we should ration care. Maybe thats why Obama didn't allow him to come up for a vote or go before committees before appointment

I also never mention repeal in my post...but, I hope it is ...

The is 100% pure B.S. democratic propaganda. Run the same poll on MSNBC or Fox News and see what the results are. The majority of Americans want this terrible Healthcare Reform bill repealed because of the unfunded costs and invasion of privacy of the patient/doctor relationship.

          One More Time--

REPEAL IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. GET OVER IT. ITS A REPUBLICAN PIPE DREAM COOKED UP DURING AN ELECTION CYCLE TO MAKE YOU THINK THEY CAN ACHIEVE THAT. IT WON'T HAPPEN IN THIS CONGRESS OR ANOTHER CONGRESS ANYTIME SOON. Repeal requires a yea vote from 2/3 of Congress in order to override the obvious presidential veto. Not only are Republicans not going to win back Congress, but even if they did, 66 senators and 287 Congressmen/Congresswomen would have to vote to repeal during the Obama Administration in order to avoid the veto. Oh yeah, what are the odds on that? So move on to something else, like oh, how we improve it. If you Repubs have any functioning gray matter left, please use it to think rationally and reasonably! Please for the love of God, think!

Mad, I can't imagine that even the Republicans who are blowing the repeal horn believe it'll actually happen. They didn't rise as far up the political ladder as they currently reside while knowing that little about how our government works. If they can keep a sufficient number of people sufficiently upset it'll help them personally, though. Too bad about what that does to the country, things happen. America First!!

oh the haters of health care bill. even if it fails to bring down cost, it does so many things that had never happen before. it is nice to have your kids on your insurance until they are 26. it is nice not have to pay for preventive medicine. yea rate are going up on other part, however that is not because of the bill. it is the greed of the insurance company, with or without the bill, you rate were going up each year. oh and here is one interesting thing. YOU DON'T GET KICK OUT OF YOUR INSURANCE BECAUSE YOU ARE SICK, AFTER YEARS OF PAYING FOR PREMIUM. the bill would continue to get stronger and more popular, no matter what the right say about it. it is a common sense approach to one of the worst crime of this country.

We just found out that OBAMA LIED AGAIN! Abortion will be allowed and paid for with tax dollars! The Cost of Insurance is going up not down, the cost of health care is going up not down and there will be fines levied on people who do not buy Ins. For the first time in American history you are being forced to buy something not for for regulating purposes like a Drivers Lic to drive a car because that is a choice, not like car ins because that too is a choice this is no choice. Now these liberal idiots are saying a poll took in liberal land not in real America shows more support for the health care bill. Well we will see if they can twist and spend the truth after the NOV, Elections. One Trillion out the window when 80 of Americans never wanted it and still 80 % of Americans do not want it. So where is the increase support? New York where they took the poll no doubt.

hey Mad in CT they do not have to repeal it it will just die the death of the dog of a program it is by refusing to fund it and they most certainly can do that even if they do not gain control of the senate which I suspect they will. Even with out the majority in congress they will have enough votes to block anything and the health ins will die the death it should die and then maybe just maybe after Obama is kicked out of office along with all the other brain dead corupt liberals we can get real health care reform that actually addresses the cost of health care.

I guess I'm missing any benefit from this mess. My Long Term care insurance went up a full 40% last quarter . That tells me that long term medical cost are expected to rise not decline. I'm retired middle class and this increase is a huge burden and a tax increase not helpful as far as I can determine . Repeal the mess.

You do realize than no parts of the health care bill were in effect last quarter, don't you? One of the things included in the health care bill is that unjustified premium increases will be eliminated. I guess you think that your insurance company should be able to increase your premium by 40% every year just so it can make hugh profits and the CEO can get multi-million dollar bonuses.
