The end of gun permits, traffic stops and the goldfinch flag

From NBC's Jillian Hughes
Recent polling has the Tennessee Republican gubernatorial primary in a three-way battle between Tennessee congressman Zach Wamp, Knoxville mayor Bill Haslam and current Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey. But a fourth, rather eccentric, candidate has made his way onto the scene.

Former Marine Basil Marceaux (otherwise known as Basil Marceaux dot com) shared his vision for Tennessee last week on WSMV-Nashville.

Note that the three-stripe flag he is referring to is probably the first Confederate flag, used from 1861 to 1863.

His website, where he claims he will “immune you from all state crimes for the rest of your life” is also worth a visit.

At least he's trying to be involved in government but that's about the best thing I can say. Talk about fringe views, this guy really sits on the edge.

Well, wasn't that special? Perhaps Basil should have thought more about running.

The Republicans never cease to be a constant gift to the Democrats. If Basil is an example of what they are all about they are in big trouble.

I guess we all have our crosses to bear newday . . . to think that much of America thinks that these are the folks they want to represent them . . . it boggles the mind.

For once, a Republican has ideas. And I like it. (Even if they are off-the-wall, it's still a step forward.)

Too bad he's severely hamstrung by poor public speaking skills.

You'd think Jillian Hughes would have taken....oh say, 15 seconds.... to look up the history of the Tennessee state flag. If she had, she would have noticed that the current TN flag replaced a three-striped flag with the words The Volunteer State and the number 16 on it.

But no, it's probably much easier for you to assume that he's probably referring to the Confederate flag. Considering he's from Tennessee he has to be a retard and a racist, right sweetie?

My friend Ray from New Mexico and I were trying to figure out what the "goldfinch" flag is, since TN's flag just has some stars. Ray figured out it's not "goldfinch" -- it's "gold fringed," and apparently, this upsets some people. A gold-fringed flag means "the American People have been put on notice that the normal constitutional functions of government have been suspended and that their Land has been placed under martial law." I never realized it was so serious. http://www.apfn.org/apfn/flag.htm

Also, Basil Marceaux's website seems to suggest that people who fly the flag improperly should be stun-gunned. Sounds sensible to me.

              The gold-fringe argument is heresy:

              http://www.usflag.org/colors.html

"The gold trim is generally used on ceremonial indoor flags that are used for special services and is believed to have been first used in a military setting. It has no specific significance that I have ever run across, and its (gold trim) use is in compliance with applicable flag codes and laws." (from above link)

Also, the flag he is referring to is not the Confederate Flag as you are so quick (and hopeful) to portray.

                  From his site:

Make the Court system, Congess, Army, Navy ,Air Force to Fly the same flag as the Marine Corp which is the three color U.S. Flag.

Get the facts straight. But why do that when it's easier to be critical of a Marine who doesn't enjoy the same gift of BS on TV as the rest of the politicians.

She's not being critical because he isn't a your stereotypical bull@!$%#ting politician, she's being critical because his campaign is obviously a joke.

And if you can't realize that, then I truly feel sorry for you.
