Tancredo to run for CO governor as indie

The Denver Post is reporting that former Republican Congressman Tom Tancredo, who ran for president in 2008, will run for Colorado governor as an independent.

"I will officially announce at noon [Colorado time] that I will seek the nomination of the constitution party," Tancredo told the Denver Post.

Last week, Tancredo threatened to launch a third-party bid unless the two Republicans running for governor -- Scott McInnis and Dan Maes -- promised to drop out of the race AFTER the Aug. 10 primary. McInnis is currently embroiled in a plagiarism scandal.

These developments -- Tancredo's bid, McInnis' plagiarism scandal -- probably increase the chances that Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper, the Democratic nominee, might win this race in November.

Republican to an Indie...

You're still CRAZY!!

Come on people, we can do this all day long.

Good Lord, SURELY Coloradans won't allow this to happen. The grinning Lunatic trancredo is just as whacked (and so proud of it) as sister "quitter" sarah, that dude with the "crazy eyes" michelle bachmann, rand "electrocute'em" paul, sharon "the screaming crow" angle, et all - as the list is way too long to post here.

Come on Coloradans you guys are WAY smarter than to allow this to happen. Take care of your business, and stop the grinning lunatic trancredo in his tracks.

Coloradans are too smart -- even most of the Repubs -- to elect Tom Tancredo governor. He's right up there wit Sarah and Michelle when it comes to being a whack-job.

Bad news for the Republican candidate. As an independent candidate, Tancredo is going to syphon off the nutjob vote, which is all-important for Republican victories.

Too true! Repugs can't win without the insane right. Speaking of nutjobs, Tancredo does NOT believe in evolution, but DOES believe that President Obama is not a citizen. The fact he is jumping into the race is great news for Democrats.

As I said last week....Nevada has its Angle, Kentucky has its Paul.

But here in Colorado we have true entertainment...I'm not sure there are enough free popcorn refills to get us through until November.

In addition to our 2 (R) candiates self-imploding we have this:

Here's a radio interview with Tancredo and Dick Wadhams, head of the Colo. (R) party.....advance to minute 10:20...ENJOY

Why won't this moron go away? Is he so out of touch with reality that he thinks he can win? The man is a joke and will never hold public office again. Such arrogance for him to believe he's relevant.

That's strange that Tancredo should run as an Indie in the constitution party and didn't say which constitution? The last I checked Tancredo was hanging out with secessionist and Neo-Nazis.

Why would you vote for him? Explain please. Is your life that bad, you have to follow this loser? Even if he pulls off a major upset and wins, he won't make your life any better.

So, you want someone who is totally out of touch with reality to run your state? He is part of the group that doesn't believe that President Obama is a citizen. He also doesn't believe in evolution or global warming. Why not just vote for Santa Claus for governor? He's more grounded in reality than Tancredo!

      #8.4 - Mon Jul 26, 2010 4:33 PM EDT

More people have seen Santa delivering presents on Christmas morning than Obama's birth certificate.

nyc -- a copy of President Obama's birth certificate is all over the internets. Perhaps you should try using "the Google". Or, did you want him to break into the vault in Hawaii and personally hand-deliver the original to you?

        #8.7 - Mon Jul 26, 2010 5:03 PM EDT

        nycguy,

Are you for real? Even the right wing tea party candidate for Senate in Colorado recognizes birthers are nut jobs. I don't know how many people have seen "Santa" deliver presents, but if you're referring to the people who place the gift from Santa under the tree, next to the fireplace, etc, at the various homes, then you would be right, only because an enormous number of children have caught "Santa".

However, President Obama was born in Hawaii, hid birth certificate has been viewed by hundreds of journalist, and only a nut, a racist, or both would continue to call President Obama's birth into question. Which are you?

Have you seen John McCain's birth certificate, he actually wasn't born on US soil, and yet the call to disqualify (or challenge) him, on constitutional grounds from a few far left activist after he won the GOP nomination, was immediately and clearly tamped down by the Democratic establishment. However, despite there being no basis to believe President Obama wasn't born in the US, and the challenge itself has racist roots, it persists with a small percent of lunatics on the right. Too many GOP leaders are afraid to vocally tamp it down, because they fear the right wing nut jobs.

As a Coloradan, I'd like to thank Mr. Tancredo for announcing his candidacy, thereby granting the Governorship to John Hickenlooper. Do I think Hickenlooper is the best candidate the Dems could end up with? No...but, he's he's certainly better than McInnis or Tancredo.

Great news. As the Republicans split their votes between sensible Republicans and teabaggers the Democrats will remain united and win more elections than they otherwise would.

Do I get you right sun? You are opposed to the natural gas industry's fracking, and the destruction to wells and drinking water supplies? You are opposed to the overarching power of the energy industry, but you support a tool of that industry like Tom Tancredo? Like I've been saying, the Tea Party is made up in large part by confused people who not long ago considered themselves Democrats. I thank Faux News for this development.

I met Tancredo here in Iowa and heard him speak in 2008. He was not my first pick, but give the guy credit, he has one issue he pounds home. He's passionate about it. And he has a valid point. The borders are where terrorists can sneak through.

                          Reply#19 - Tue Jul 27, 2010 9:15 AM EDT

I beleive he can pull it off. The political climate along front range megalopolis is changing, voters in the population centers who have voted in the past along party lines have went independent or are confounded . Hickinlooper needs the majority of those front range votes. Tancredo can easily pick up the majority of the states rural and western slope votes because those voters are split on things like immigration, jobs and agricultural rights. Dont count Tom out yet being the most popular guy on campus might be the ticket.
