The Washington Post: “Emboldened by sagging approval ratings of the Democratic-controlled Congress, Republicans almost unanimously opposed a bill to overhaul the financial regulatory system that President Obama signed into law; they are against a measure to increase the disclosure of campaign spending by corporations; and they've largely eliminated the chance of passing a series of measures Democrats say could help the economy. Their opposition turned unemployment benefits, usually an issue with little political controversy, into an intense clash between the parties.”
The AFSCME union is running a print advertising campaign in conjunction with Mitch McConnell’s appearance in Louisville addressing the National Conference of State Legislatures.

They're against the financial regulatory because they are subservient to their corporate masters. Good on the union to go after those idiots.
The Republican agenda, NEIN, NEIN, NEIN!!!
The Republicans care nothing about this country or it's citizens, all they care about is the upcoming election, they want to have more power to help out their corporate buddies at the taxpayers expense, their tactics of pure obstructionism should be enough to make people wretch everytime they hear the term Republican and yet it isn't, what in the world do people think the Republicans are going to do that will miraculously save the day? More tax cuts for the rich so they can afford to send more jobs overseas, some more un-funded nation building exercises? What exactly is their plan? They have no plan except get more power and continue their elimination of the middle class, people better get their head out of their a&$ and not make a mistake that will mean the end of a decent life for most.
What really sux is that when/if the pub's take over again they will be able to get their laws passed and it's likely they will take over again. It has become absolutely obvious to me that the Dem's lack the balls or ability or both to use all of the vast array of weapons that he pub's have given them to fight back.
Republicans have been complete disconnected, greedy, obstructionist, spoiled little brats and in the process have created all sorts of obviously bad decisions, bad behavior, temper tantrum, destructive, racist and voter abusive actions and gaffs but have the Dem's used any of the mountains of material??? Hell no! Wtf??
As an independent I am wondering if the Dem's should be in a position of leadership if they haven't got the spine or competence to be leaders... I'm thinking that if the Dem's lose they will have no one else to blame for it but themselves...Of course they wont though...
The one thing that the Dems have going for them tho is the fact that people can see that the Repubs are the party of dirty tricks, lies and malfeasance. The Dems are conducting themselves generally as Gentlemen and Ladies, which Does make an impression. The Repubs, by voting NO on everything are making it clear to the people of the US, and the World in general, that they are or doing ANYTHING for the lower classes, in fact, they are clearly working towards the destruction of our Nation through their intransigence and refusal to actually govern for their individual States, preferring to vote on lock-stepping goosestep instead. I think that we shall see a lot more of the Repub's gaffes brought to light closer to the election. Doing so too soon will take the power out of it, doing so right before the election will make people madder closer to the election, resulting in better polling for the Dems.
Having a spine does not mean that you have to play dirty tricks, that kind of action actually shows less spine as the crooks are being scared that honesty won't work, and they are right in that. They do not Dare to tell people that they intend to turn this Nation into a banana republic so that they can have cheap labor from everyone, which is what the Corporations that feed the Repubs want.
Kharma Works!!
There was an article posted this weekend. I do not remember where I read it but the Republican Party is telling their members NOT TO VOTE FOR ANY BILL until after the elections. They may as well go home for the next three months since it is apparent they do not want to participate in any governing for the near future.
I guess that would not be any different then the democrats not debating or having an up or down vote on the president's budget for this year right? If I remember correctly, they didn't want the public/taxpaper to know how much the budget was because it was an election year. I believe the term was "deemed passed" yea, now that's change you can believe in!!
To claim that the democrats are acting like ladies and gentleman compared to the Republicans is truly the funnest thing I've read on the net lately, must be some good stuff your smoking!!!
So we're paying these obstructionist do-nothings a salary + excellent benefits for what, agaiin? Talk about stealing from the American people!
Here in Arizona, a strongly Republican state, we have a microcosm of the Republican mentality at large. In the primary JD Hayworth and John McCain are slugging it out without any inhibition, not being at all worried about repercussions from Democrats. JD is aggressively faulting John on his apparently phony immigration stand where after years of looking the other way and neglecting to even back the current laws, the theoretically financially conservative McCain now wants to spend $6 billion, finish the porous fence, put six thousand more troops on the border (sounds like the Berlin wall and just more show than ever a solution) and provide some form of amnesty. In the mean time John has been just as aggressive when attacking JD’s character and integrity, validly pointing out several past transgressions and questionable activities that do reflect self-interests being put above all else. They both are accurately pointing out that the other is all show with little credibility beyond their abundance of rhetoric. You can add Jon Kyl, the other AZ senator, right in there as no one beats him at throwing around the rhetoric and doing nothing.
The point being clearly illustrated is that like nationally, with Boehner, McConnell, Kyl, Limbaugh, Beck, Palin, Steele and others, the Arizona Republicans are strong on rhetoric, especially to be aggressively faulting their opposition, but always without any real solutions, without credible actions or history and really without the mindset to do other than focus on their political ambitions above all else and without any conscience. All they really offer is the return to ‘more of the same’ that got us all of the problems. John Dean (a Goldwater conservative), in his book “Broken Government”, put it that the current Republican mentality makes it impossible for them to responsibly govern. With their total concentration being on their own interests, at any cost, and on being ‘puppets’ for Special Interests and the influential, powerful and extremely wealthy few who ‘pull their strings’, provide them overt and covert support, substantial contributions and even promises for after office compensation, then there simply is no ability for them to give the people more than apathy, the costs and an abundance of subterfuge to rationalize and manipulate. John Dean is correct and if the voters are now ever actually controlled by the deceptive rhetoric being used for scare tactics and appeals to biases, prejudices and emotional attachments, then we can just expect ‘more of the same’. For the Republicans it is all about money – money for their campaigns, for the special few, their strong supporters, and for them personally – and what they do for the people is just to articulate the rhetoric aimed to manipulate. Theirs is an empty and costly promise!
Bush-Cheney had eight years for totally messing things up and the eighteen months Obama has had, even though a lot has been accomplished, just isn't enough time to really turn things around. Now the voters fully need to avoid 'cutting off their nose to spite their face'.
