The move comes after criticism from some that the president chose to vacation in Maine last weekend, but not the Gulf following the oil spill.

Who in their right mind , down in the Gulf states would like to see the Bama now? After he had done messed up the oil spill. He had a golden opportunity to stop the flow from reaching the coast but he blew it as he is blowing every thing he touches. I , for one wouldn't want to see him. There is too much of misery down there. As the President of the US , he has failed them. If he had expedited the emergency services and stopped the oil from reaching the coast , it would have been sucked up by hired equipment and services, and jobs would have been preserved with what little was functioning before. No, but the Bama wanted his unions to do the clean up and got the surprise of his life when the hurricane struck. It made matters worse. The oil is now inland from the coast. With the ban of further drilling, jobs are gone, the oil has spoiled the food chain, businesses are lost and families are going to the poorhouses. That's socialism for you. Obama style. Still wanna vote for him? Anyone, anyone?

Carlyss please post your source proving Obama failed his Illinois Bar Exam 2 times. Try to at least find the year he was licensed. Due to the high probability you will have no refs to cite, it was Hillary and Michelle Obama who failed their first bar exam attempts.

I think the President like you are saying is trying to please everyone - reaching at the center. He must have an eye on a 2nd term.

The president is going because the American people shamed him into going. Just another political ploy by Obama. Personally if I lived in the Gulf Coast I would not want him coming down for a visit. Anytime the President visits it is nothing but a big head ache for local businesses (read some of the comments from businesses in LA when he visited there) and local law enforcement. How about he stay in Washington, quit wasting money flying around, and work on getting people back to work. His job is to create jobs, jobs, jobs and getting the economy turned around. But then he doesn't know how to get the economy going or how to create jobs, to busy campaigning and blaming Bush for everything.
I think the President has been boxed in, starting with the Rev. Wright controversy during the campaign and ending with his criticisms of Fox Propaganda.
People were you know, concerned, that he was going to be governing as the President of just African Americans. People were saying that. White people were saying that. Then he was seen as too weak toward the media, so he spoke up against especially Fox Propaganda. And he got killed in the press from all quarters because of it, including MSNBC.
Where some people may consider him weak, I think he's trying to be fair and gracious and genuine. But the big mouths in this country don't understand fair, graciousness and genuine.
It's embarrassing how low we are willing to go in order to get the rich people's candidates back in power in January. It really is.
President Obama I wish would go directly to the American people and tell them point blank - I am here to govern everybody, white and black, democrats and republicans ... and I will not stand for exploitation from the media ever again against anyone in order to get to me. And if the media doesn't like it, they can go and try working for a living.
Except Pat, he is not here for everybody. He does not hold back his general distaste for pretty much half the country. He does not like the right. He does not like the center. He does not like businesses. Not insurance or financial companies, health care providers, or oil companies ---- all of which are made up of, by the way -- American people. So he takes some vacation time. He'll be followed around by his entourage and constantly in touch with his staff. Presidents are Presidents 24/7/365. It will be a working vacation.
My issue is this. There are 12 million people the last thing on their minds right now is going on a fun filled vacation. They're worried about paying the bills, keeping their homes, taking care of their families and finding a job. It's nice the First Family will enjoy some more fun in the sun some coming weekend. One of my best friends will be spending his weekend packing the last of his belongings into the back of a truck after losing his job and losing his home. Then he'll drive 500 miles away to move in with his in-laws. He's hoping he might find some work out west.
None of the men and women in Afghanistan or Iraq are considering vacations right now. I'm sure most of them would rather be on the white sandy beaches of Florida - instead of hiding behind rocks, getting shot at and trying to stay alive.
I don't care what he does but I would prefer if President Obama showed some empathy for the American people. The country is not in good shape. The people are hurting. Now is not the time to be perceived as relaxing in an lavish five star hotel, or biking happily along the coast.
It makes him appear completely out of touch.

His goals were different from Obama's and when you're a believer in the free market system you have to work hard to sustain it. All Obama is doing is tax and spend. That's easy. Raise taxes and spend. He does nothing more. So he has more time for vacation. That's all you Liberals do, tax the people and waste their money. Eg. Obama and his Keynesian economy. Foxnews is only doing what the others don't do. All they , MSNBC, NBC and others do is appease the Annointed One, drop on their knees and you know what. Oh, then they attack people like Palin down to their clothes and undewear. Now when a serious story breaks they bawl. Like the Sherrod case, the Pink Panthers Party, the Acorn fiasco etc. Then, they do not mention nothing in their news nor on their talk show. Many a time Fox makes a lot of news but the 'Bama Press (BP) keeps silent or ignore it. They are stone deaf and stone face like the Bama. But try to touch or criticize the Great One. Only then , you realize that they have a press, a broadcast system, a cable station , a talk show or a radio show otherwise the silence is deafening. Uncannily, its the same process that preceded the rise of the Nazis in Germany.

Good morning liberal TURDS. Why are you always so angry and on edge when you are in power? You had alot of fun shooting arrows for 8 yrs. Sucks being on the other side. Never have I seen so many hand wringing, self doubting wussies in my life. It will be OK-you can go back to being in the back seat in Nov. where you are more comfortable.
Has it dawned to any of you nay-sayers that Obama's decision to take his family on a vacation to the Gulf is a decision that might actually help tourism there? It's one thing to encourage people to visit the Gulf region, it's another thing to back it up by having your kids swim in the water.
Also, Obama has been under incredible pressure thanks to the god-awful mess left by Bush/Cheney. He deserves some down-time with his family - and his kids deserve some vacation time with their father! Anyway, this will probably be a working vacation for Obama, and much better use of time than "clearing brush" in Crawford Texas.
Had it been that the previous generations decided not to borrow and spend in fear of leaving us their children and grand children (the present generation) with debts, we the children and grand children would not be having the kind of things that we have at present. They had to spend heavily on research and development projects, space exploration, construction of roads, railway lines, schools, hospitals, education, economic recovery, fighting wars, just to mention a few. Even though they left us with debts that we have always continued to pay, we were privileged to inherit all that they made available for us through spending.
The government has to spend because by spending, we are preparing the country for the future generation (the children and grand children) so that they may inherit from us better things and better standard of living than what we have at present.
We have to borrow and spend so that we are able to continue making lots of things available for our children and grand children which they will not have to struggle to make themselves from the beginning when they grow up.
This mess has been created in our generation and we are obliged to fix it without leaving it for our children and grand children. We may have to spend in order for us to fix it. If we do not spend now to save the economy for our children and grand children and just leave everything to collapse, what kind of America do we want these children and grand children to inherit.
What Republicans are saying is this; 'we Republicans created this huge mess, yes we did, but you know it will be very expensive for this mess to be fixed. It can never be fixed for free. Fixing it definitely requires borrowing and spending but if we leave our opponents (Democrats) to borrow and spend, they will succeed in fixing it and we do not want that to happen. We can not let them fix it because that will make people to like them and make it difficult for us to win again. Because spending is what will help fix the mess, we republicans must adopt a strategy of discouraging Democrats from spending by shouting at them to stop spending. So let us all shout together---stop spending, stop spending, because spending will make you fix the mess, stop spendiiiiiiing.'
