Congress: Looks like the Dems have 60 votes

The Wall Street Journal: “Two Senate Republicans said Monday they would support the Obama administration's financial-overhaul legislation, and Democrats now believe they have the 60 votes needed to push the sweeping bill into law by the end of the week. Sens. Scott Brown of Massachusetts and Olympia Snowe of Maine both said they would vote for the measure when Democrats bring it to a vote, which could happen as soon as this week. Democrats and administration officials believe this gives them the necessary backing to overcome a potential filibuster after weeks of uncertainty and unexpected pitfalls.”

Good morning everybody. I heard this AM that Ben Nelson is dragging his feet again and very well may not support the bill. We need that other Dem to replace the death of Sen. Byrd ASAP. I was watching MTP Sunday. Why is it that the republicans always interrupt the person speaking. Ever notice how fast they talk and how loud. Mr. Gregory was asked in a separate post if they do any fact checking on their quests. He said NO, that it is up to the people to determine fact from fiction. I thought that responsible journalists checked their facts before presented them as truth. I guess not. And we wonder why there is so much misinformation and lies being feed to us by the pundits. Rachael handled heself as the professional she is and did not let them get away with very much. We need more RM's and fewer David Gregory's.

I think thats exactly why most people are misinformed, you have hit the nail on the head whether its Democrats, Republicans or Independents when they come on these shows someone has to be the honest broker. I think if there were more fact checkers then you wouldnt have so mant guests rushing to be interviewed. It's a sad state of affairs when you can no longer trust your trusted news source.

That's exactly why David Gregory is no Tim Russert. Tim always had the facts in front of him and wouldn't let anyone Democrat or Republican get a way with a lie or a flip flop. We need another Tim Russert on MTP. I haven't watched MTP since Gregory and his contraversey started.

I beg to differ with you all. The reason you don't care for Gregory is because he will not tow the Liberal line during the show. If he just sat there and attempted to cut down Republicans all day, he would be the most loved host on T.V.

Maddow did not educate anyone. Everybody and their mother knows exactly how she will see an issue even before she utters a word.

Ford educated her on that perceived budget surplus talking point that has been around since Clinton left. I think he knows a little bit more than she on that issue. Maddow was in grade-school when Clinton was POTUS.

Congress will never save any surplus. If it is money somewhere; they will spend it on BOTH sides.

When it comes to spending; NEITHER side has the higher ground. We can admit it but Democrats have a problem admitting that their congressmen do the same exact thing.

Let's just pass this thing, spank Wall Street and the Repugs and move on to other important things. Our President just needs to keep pouring reform and help bills through Congress. He has a pretty good track record so far.
