GOP watch: Newt is 'serious' about '12

While in Iowa yesterday, “Former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich said … he's seriously considering seeking the Republican presidential nomination and will announce his decision early next year. Gingrich, 67, told The Associated Press that he would focus on helping Republican candidates through the midterm elections in November, then decide in February or March whether to seek the GOP nomination. ‘I've never been this serious,’ Gingrich said. ‘It's fair to say that by February the groundwork will have been laid to consider seriously whether or not to run,’ he said.”

I predict that Gingrich will run. I could be wrong but if the Republican's have a good showing during the Nov. elections he will run.

He has spent the entire eighteen months since President Obama was elected trying to tear him down by telling false truths and making it seem that the President is out of touch and incompetent. I do not trust Gingrich nor his thinking about the way this country should be goverened. He is just another republican politician that wants to keep this country in the dark ages and keep the rich richer and the poor dependent upon them.

Every American needs to think about whether they want to go back to all of that or continue to move forward, even if the movement is slow right now. I have faith that we will recover for the better if we stay on track and be patient, as hard as it is to remain so.

Wasn't Gingrich kicked out of his post as speaker because he couldn't cram the right wing extremist agenda down our throats? Wasn't it Gingrich who pushed for the contract on America? How ridiculous! How stupid did he thing we were? All of that plus his infidelity will come out if he runs. So run Newt run.

This is stupidity to the highest extent. GOP what are you doing? If Newt runs in '12 you will be sounding the death knell of the party. In addition to losing a well deserved home run to defeat the DINOS. Every God given opportunity the RINOS get , they put their foot in their mouth or shoot their foot. They never learn. So obsessed is Gingrich is for the presidency, that he'll destroy everything and the stupid dopes in the party will vote for him. Go ahead. Put him up to run, you'll find out the hard way. The Tea Party is attracting all sorts of people even Dems and Independents and here the GOPERS are sounding off Gingrich to run. No wonder we are in the position we are now. Seems like your mothers never tell you that if you don't hear , you'll feel. Stupid Doper Gopers, no wonder the DINOS are running circles around you.

Please explain why you think this is true. I thought that the republican party was dead set on taking over the House. Is Newt not the one to do it, afterall, he has said that he has the answers and according to Hannity, Newt has the right thinking with his "Contract for America" credentials. Newt and Palin seem to be the ones that are the bright spots for the Tea Party and the republicans. If not these two then who? I am considering these two as the "Chosen One's-Two. That is what all republicans seem to think and where their confidence seems to headed.

      Please explain, thanks.

Newt and Palin sounds like an episode of the biggest loser. The American public may be angry but they are not suicidal. However they are shallow enough that they will never vote for Newt unless he gets his weight under control, you can't go through an entire presidential campaign with only camera shots of your enormous head.

      Meet the old Newt!

In May 1988, Gingrich (along with 77 other House members and Common Cause) brought ethics charges against Democratic Speaker Jim Wright, who was alleged to have used a book deal to circumvent campaign-finance laws and House ethics rules. During the investigation, it was noted Gingrich had his own unusual book deal, for Window of Opportunity, part of whose publicity expenses were covered by a limited partnership, which raised $105,000 from Republican political supporters around the country to promote sales of the book.[10] Wright eventually resigned as a result of the inquiry. Gingrich's success in forcing the resignation was in part responsible for his rising influence in the Republican caucus.[11] In 1989, after House Minority Whip Dick Cheney was appointed Secretary of Defense, Gingrich was elected to succeed him. Gingrich and others in the house, including the newly minted Gang of Seven, railed against what they saw as ethical lapses in the House, an institution that had been under Democratic control for almost 40 years. The House banking scandal and Congressional Post Office scandal were emblems of the exposed corruption. Gingrich himself was among the 450 members of the House who had engaged in check-kiting; he had overdrafts on twenty-two checks, including a $9,463 check to the Internal Revenue Service in 1990.[12]

      Another crook!
