Subscribe to RSSArizona’s two Republican senators are endorsing Gov. Jan Brewer in the state’s gubernatorial primary, citing her defense of a new illegal immigration law currently being challenged by the Obama administration.
“There has been no stronger defender of the State of Arizona than Gov. Jan Brewer,” said Sen. John McCain in a joint statement with Sen. Jon Kyl. “From border security to health care to job creation, Gov. Brewer has consistently stood up for our state. Gov. Brewer continues to lead the fight against the Obama Administration’s frivolous lawsuit against Arizona’s immigration law.”
Kyl said that Brewer "has shown courage in fighting for the rights of Arizonans."
McCain, previously a champion of comprehensive immigration reform, has become more hawkish on border security in the face of his own tough primary contest against radio host J.D. Hayworth. He recently disagreed with Brewer’s statement that most illegal immigrants are “mules” being used to smuggle drugs into America, but lauded her overall handling of the immigration law. “I think the governor of Arizona has done a good job in this whole debate,” he said on NBC’s Meet the Press last month.
Brewer, who once struggled in her re-election bid, enjoyed a burst of popularity after the passage of the new law. She now leads in her contest against businessman Owen “Buz” Mills and political newcomer Matthew Jette in the lead-up to the August 24 primary election. State Treasurer Dean Martin bowed out of the race last week.

Just what exactly has this woman done for Arizona? Make it the political punching bag on immigration reform since Napolitano left....That's just great..Arizona is the land of the lost with "Old Man Looking at Clouds" and Kyl.....

I pray Brewer loses, and the Republicans some back around to supporting justice and adherence to the rule of law. At the moment, the Republican Party is willing to throw out the principles our country was founded on, all to stir up fear and hate, ginning up the base. Fear and hate are how Republicans win seats. Sad.

Americans that fear what is happening to the country and hate the contempt shown for their will, are probably going to put a few seats on the right side of the aisle.
A better way of putting it would of been.. Those on the left are going to lose their bid to Socialize America increase the size of Government,and allow illegal in just for their vote..and just maybe America will begin to work again. bringing back America Where the word business was not a bad thing.. and the word Unemployed was once again for those that don't want to work..
McCain and Kyle should both be ousted,voted out of office,so why give endorsements to another Looser. AZ is a deadbeat state. Nobody wants to own AZ, not even the Mexicans who are leaving the state in droves. This barren desert has a lot of inbreeding which is why the average IQ of AZ has dropped to just above 0. McCain, Kyle and Brewer are historical figures much like the dinosaurs, and will become extinct once the voters realized they have been cheated by the GOP. Look at Idiot in Chief George W Bush.... Gathering up folks within the state who are suspected of being illegal immigrants does NOTHING for border control. Calling the Latino illegal immigrants "drug mules," criminals, murders and "white slave traffickers do nothing to stop the migration of immigrants into this country or to develop a positive relationship with legal Latino immigrants.
I do understand the frustration that Arizona and other border states have with the onslaught of illegal immigrants coming into their states; but, the Arizona law does nothing to reduce or stop it. It's ironic that they are insisting upon building a "dang" fence when not too long ago Ronald Reagan was cheered for challenging Gorbachev to destroy the Berlin Wall. Wow! Is this a "Don't do as I do; do as I say?"
A "Wall" and "Check Point Charley" are coming to America! Just as other states are proposing legislation similar to that of Arizona, I guess America will have many Walls and Check Points!
