Congress: The three amigos

John McCain, Lindsey Graham and Joe Lieberman are in Israel.

"A White House commission tasked with winding down trillion-dollar deficits has won a boost from Congress’s leading GOP budget hawks, who say it is off to a strong start," The Hill notes. "Rep. Paul Ryan (Wis.) and Sen. Judd Gregg (N.H.), the senior Republicans on the House and Senate Budget committees have praised a proposal by the fiscal panel’s Democratic co-chairman, Erskine Bowles, to limit government spending and revenue to 21 percent of gross domestic product."

John, Lindsay, and Joe:

The horse is already out of the barn. No need to close that door. The deficit is all in your head and its mental. Why are you fanning the flames of the deficit when we have important things to do like purchase $5 Persian rugs at outdoor markets.

The time to take the budget seriously was when you and the GOP had literal rubber stamp approval of anything they saw fit to legislate or to deconstruct (think regulatory controls on offshore drilling for example). Now that you have nothing to offer the American people that are suffering in this time of economic uncertainty, you say no (once again) to those that are counting on you to help them feed their families while you go on vacation from your $170,000 a year job and travel to the Middle East so you can shop at outdoor markets while WE are footing the bill.

You are such hypocrites it makes me ill.

Disgusted,

Good point. The people across the aisle keep demonstrating their selective memory. They keep on spilling lies as per Steele which is bad enough, but they are starting to believe their own crap. Angel now wants to sue Reid if he points out her radically positions of the past. This is really starting to go down hill faster and faster. All the repugs are back tracking, deleting information off their web sites etc., etc. I am afraid the repugs are going to win a lot of seats not because they have any valid ideas or for the American people but because the Democrats cannot get off their arses and fight back. We need more backbone in our party and less weak kneed representation. Brown is blowing it in CA etc. Where the he!! are our elected officials, why are they not fighting for us average Americans, better yet why are they not fighting for the principles that the said they would?

I hear you and share some of that frustration DAV, but I also know that there is a long time yet until November. I am a native Los Angelean and remember the days of the first Brown administration. Trust me, Jerry is no idiot and he is biding his time and planning his attack on how best to use his limited (relatively speaking anyway) budget to slay the with of eBay.

The GOP can attempt to erase and obscure history, but the tapes (both audio and visual) are out there and WILL be used to their detriment. They took public positions and now they can defend them. Bring it on!

Two republicans praising a democratic co-chair committee effort on budget reduction. Must be the hot weather.

Seriously, no doubt there are plenty of ways to reduce government spending. The test will be when those recommendations hit Congress and involve cutting pet programs of the legislators. Everyone is for budget reduction EXCEPT in their back yards. Let the games begin.

        Dennis,

I think you hit it. This is more of the same old. The right is going to continue to act as if they are for all Americans but when the chips are down they will balk as they have been doing since President Obama was elected. Bottom line is that the Republicans are not going to do anything for the average American. They will continue to present themselves as our friends, pick our pockets and then say No, it wasn't me. When are the DEMS that we elected to office to work for us going to get some backbone and put the pressure on those across the aisle????? Brown is sitting on his ass in CA and the money lady is going to destroy him if he does not wake up. We are in a period of time that many Republican candidates are weak and/or just fanatics (tea baggers). It appears that there is really not very many good DEM choices either and that is sad. The right is going to win seats not because they are better choices, have any ideas, morals or ethic responsibility. They are going to win because my party cannot figure out what the he!! they are doing.

Everyone knows President Obama will support the three amigos proposal, and as soon as he comes out supporting it the three amigos will bail out just like all the other times. Their always against anything President Obama is for. I think he gets a kick out of making these nuts back away from something they propose.

One way to reduce spending is to stop sending money to Israel until they pull out of Gaza and turn it over to the Palistinians.

"...the key is get out of Afghanistan..."

Only one individual decides whether or not to get out of Afghanistan...and President Obama has been very consistent about where he stands on that.

The appointment of General David Petraeus is one big, big clue. There will be a pullout based on conditions on the ground in Afghanistan, and Petraeus will advise the President when those conditions are in place.

The key to success was broken when Chicken George used our Troops to get Saddam's pistol for his upcoming Library. It was'nt only Al-Quida that attacked us on 911, it was also the Taliban. Any other President besides Chicken George woul've made that Country Pay, but not the yellowstreaked one.

Beverly although some, myself included, know the funding for Aphganistan would be of better use here, these animals Attacked Our Homeland & should be made to pay Dearly.

I can understand the impatience people are feeling with our longest running war, but weeding out the radicals on the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan is extremely important, not just to prevent the Taliban regaining control of the Afghanistan, but more importantly, to prevent radicals from gaining control of the sidestepped victory where it mattered. Bush/Cheney's Iraq war was criminal, most importantly because it side-stepped victory where we needed it most.

The Three Unwise Fools are in Israel to prop up the failed rogue nuclear state and to promise them unlimited economic and military aid that we can no longer afford and Israel does not deserve.

If we're lucky they'll decide to stay over there. It would be the best thing for the USA, not so much for Israel.
