In non-McChrystal news, the Democratic National Committee says it is airing its second TV ad highlighting GOP Rep. Joe Barton's apology to BP -- as well as other Republican voices criticizing the Obama administration's tough talk and action directed at BP.
The ad, per the DNC, will run on national cable.

I can't tell you how invigorating it is to see the Democrats push back HARD for a change!
The choice is plain & simple - you either support the party of the people or you can support the party of Wall Street - Big Oil -Teabags and obstructionism!
I'm sorry.. oh... so sorry... lol
I agree, Feisty! The Dems seem to have grown some nerve and it's about time! They need to do more of it, too.
Nice to see you Ginger!
Are you as fired up and ready to go as I am?
I personally would like to see Barton hit by a truck for giving libs this kind of ammo. That being said, this will be forgotten fairly soon and "the people" will go back to realizing that the Dems are the party of elitists, grievance groups, race-baiting, sympathizing with Islamofacists and illegal immigration.
It doesn't matter that he admitted it...we ALL know how the republicans think and who's side they are on. The problem with the right is they think everyone is as ignorant as they are. We don't buy your B.S. as recent history and elections have shown. It's a LARGE diverse country and pale male is the minority, come out into the world and you will see that, the right is doomed to lose constantly until the far right wing whacko's realize that fact...Dems include ALL races, religions, ages and social status's the right as we ALL know.....not so much. So be careful with terms like race-baiting because if your party ONLY HAS ONE RACE, and doesn't except even centrist/moderate republicans then you should know you are in LONG TERM trouble !!!
Hey, Sundance...the fall will probably kill you!
Joe Barton unwittingly spoke the truth otherwise republicans wouldn't be talking as fast as they can to stop the bleeding--why else would a poster say he should be run over for giving democrats such a gift.
Ever occur to repubs to ask why Barton would make such a comment? Ever occur to them that what Barton said, he believes--business can do what it wants and the government should cover the cost when things go wrong. They hate government intervention yet are willing to saddle government with the cost for a corporation's man-made disaster. They claim they want BP to pay yet call it extortion or shakedown--that's hypocritical. If BP goes bankrupt, the $20 billion and other concessions Pres Obama got for the Gulf coast residents is protected; and by doing so the Pres Obama has protected taxpayers from picking up the tab. Joe Barton would not have held a meeting questioning BP.
What does the GOP believe? Joe Barton summed it up along with Rand Paul, Michelle Bachman, and the others who question the President regarding his negotiations with BP . Hate consumes, and the all-consuming hatred of Obama by some GOPers has accidently caused them to speak the truth about what is at the heart of the GOP for the first time--they do not care about people, they care about corporations.
It is wishful thinking by republicans that this will go away by fall. That spill isn't going anywhere, it will be years before the mess is cleaned up. The democratic ads today are a warmup.
I am reminded of The Empire Strikes Back (1980) when Capt. Needa apologizes to Darth Vader for not capturing the Millenium Falcon. Vader chokes him to death using The Force.
"Apology Accepted, Captain Needa"
As I said earlier...
If Democrats really believe that Joe Barton will trump the economy, unemployment, Obamacare, cap-and-trade, the proposed closure of Guantanamo, civilian trials for KSM and the other 9/11 plotters, and the Obama Administration's pathetically inadequate response to the Gulf oil spill catastrophe...then by all means, go ahead and raise that issue.
I'll see your Joe Barton, and raise you the Obama Justice Department's upcoming lawsuit against the Arizona illegal immigration law.
You're holding a losing hand, DNC.
Get off that dog! Those people deserve the response Bush gave Katrina. Those idiots want drilling to continue in their region and successfully went to court for it. Unfortunately, President Obama is a better man than I. I'd turn my back on them and let them solve their own problems. Return or cancel the escrow fund and let these person fend for themselves. These people do not deserve my care nor my concern or that of any other American not immediately effected by this mess. We will ultimately pay for it so I am one that is willing for that eventuality. I withdraw my support and prayers. May Creator give them all what they want, Seas of Oil and death.
And I'll raise you the Black, Latino and other Minority votes , while splitting the White vote down the middle and you tell me who has the losing hand?
BTW how is it that the Obama Admin. botched the oil spill? The Coast Guard was there immediately to put out the fire and search and rescue, they ARE the Government. And NOBODY knows how to stop the leak which is MORE THAN OBVIOUS. So what could have been done that would have had a different result than we have now?
Ole Chicago-
Why...you and the DNC have the losing hand, OC. Thought I'd made that clear.
As for the inadequacies of the federal government's response to the spill, you've got weeks and weeks worth of First Read posts from me and others to review if you really want an answer to that question.
I'm guessing you don't...and won't.
Regards,
MB.
I'll see your pathetic response to the spill and raise you 20 billion in an escrow account for the victims.
Done, Forrest!
Shall we both lay our cards down the morning after Election Day in November?
I'm good with the public's verdict on the Obama Administration...
Can I assume you will be as well?
"As for the inadequacies of the federal government's response to the spill, you've got weeks and weeks worth of First Read posts from me and others to review if you really want an answer to that question"
Hey MB,
I read your post and went back over many threads and posts of you and others looking for ANY specifics of the inadequacies of the government's response to the leak. Unfortunately, not a single post actually lays out anything specific other than "Obama sucks" or "Obamaloser". Are those the answers I am supposed to be finding when I look back through the "weeks and weeks worth of First Read posts from me and others"?
Can we ask that, for the sake of brevity and expediency, you simply provide one ANSWER here that supports your contention?
Let's hope the DNC keeps the collective GOP feet to the fire. The GOP leave absolutely no mistake as to whom the GOP represents. It definitely is not "We the People".
LD Bean-
I'm afraid, LD, to paraphrase former President Bill Clinton:
That dog most definitely DOES hunt.
Ha Ha, If the DINOS and Ole Chicago think that the Barton slip of the tongue will win them votes in the next round of elections , then they are in worse shape than I thought they were. Who's advising them? Those people ought to be fired! The G.O.D under Obama has sealed the fate of the DINOS. He owns it and its worse than Bush's Katrina. Apart from this disaster, the office of the Presidency is killing Obama. The very office that he sought and successfully obtained is draining his polling numbers away. Teleprompted speeches, the corrupted Clintonistas that surround him, the glib Gibbs his talking head, who speaks with a forked tongue just like his boss, the perception of Obama as just a sign and directive bonehead, who thinks that just signing papers and decrees is the lot of the Presidency, his bored speeches, his failure in leadership and inability to motivate in a crisis. He is now finding out that campaigning is quite different from the presidency. Where Obama is falling down terribly is his custom as in the Senate career where he just breezes in to sign partisan papers with a yes or no. He never bothered to take the time to study the significance of what he was about and what he was doing. This lack of experience is now taking a heavy toll on him. He is foundering like a ship in rough waters and the bottom is falling out. The G.O.D (Gulf Oil Disaster) caught him with his pants down. He thought that BP would have scrubbed the leak in a matter of days without any damage to the areas. You can glean that from his speeches and you can see that in his demeanor. He is badly shaken. Frozen in time, it never occurred to him to visit the area. Why? Solely because there were no FEMA or EPA or any of those organizations in the area to advise him or to work out a strategy to stop the flow. In fact, he was lost in a vaccum. When Carver and others began to scream, "Man we're dying down here and this president is not doing anything!" Barack panicked. And lo and behold he found that there was no one or one single expert in his administration who he could've turned to or to manage the crisis. His obsession with cap and trade which showed up in his prime time speech was a disastrous mistake. The nation was stunned. Here the oil has destroyed the Gulf and Obama is talking about cap and trade. Aspiring to an office when you don't have experience has turned into a horror for Barack Obama. The DINOS that surround him are aware of this and they are picking up on every tidbit, looking into every nook and cranny , sniffing every smokey place, glaring at every tongue twisted mistake for the wrong sentence from the RINOS, in order to gain traction for the next election phase. But the DINOS are beginning to run away from Obama. He knows it He is not stupid.
JuvenBachan;
Here the oil has destroyed the Gulf and Obama is talking about cap and trade.
That is exactly right, it was the oil and not the President. So, why does the President get all of the blame for this when in reality everybody knows he did not cause this mess. Still I am waiting for someone to tell us how to stop the flow of oil. No one has the answer, no one, and yet all of the blame goes to Obama. The GOP and all of it's minions carry the majority of blame because of their close ties to oil companys and their executives and the lack of regulations to provide as much prevention as possible. I can't understand why they would want to continue to drill without knowing if the safety measures necessary to prevent it.
It is not Obama's Katrina, it now belongs to the Gulf Coast states and their legislators. If they want to block The President and prevent the administration from inspecting those rigs then they will be held responsible for the next disaster. So be it. When the next one comes from the big oil people let them shoulder the accountability themselves.
Obama tried to protect the coast and the judge is now responsible for what happens. The prez is off the hook as far as I'm concerned.
Drill, spill and and send us the bill baby!
marcilynnj,
These haters will blame the Obama administration, regardless. They just hate it an intelligent Black Man is at the helm and dealing with it! These people are so biased they'd rather see it all go up in flames rather than grant any concessions to the Non-GOP taxpayers.
No, no, LD-
Dissent is not hate.
You may hate it...but, it's still merely dissent.
Remember how much you loved dissent during the last Administration?
Mixed Nuts...
You're obsession with dissent is unnerving... think maybe you can find something else to focus on?
It's ok Feisty, Mixed Nuts is just waiting for the federal statutes to be modified to reflect "dissent crimes". That way he can make it sound more elite than a "hate crime". See, he really wants to be considered as an intelligent person and respected for his views and input here. Problem is, every time he provides us any insight to what he REALLY thinks, it tends to dispel his own view of himself. He is conflicted and the echo chamber has not yet found a way to help him extricate himself from his dilemma of wanting to be perceived as intelligent when all those that support his ideas and views detest anyone that can read or knows history.
Another republician scumbag !!!
Ole Chi town, Conservitives don't think liberals are ignorant, they know they are.
Watch Greece in it's down word spin from the liberal lefts polices. That is what America is in for if we continue down this path of liberalism with it's chi town thung in charge. SPEND SPEND SPEND and then SPEND some more. Never let the freemarket work. Never let a crisis go to waste! The freemarket can only bring freedom and liberty.
Not to beat a dead horse, but the SPEND SPEND SPEND mentality started long before this president. Bush never bothered to find the funding for an unnecessary war - and tried to hide the cost by not including it in the budget!
And your "freemarket" theory has never been in play here. Not when you give tax breaks to large corporations and the very rich. You complain of restrictions, well, let's also get rid of the benefits.
As a small business owner is see all the tax breaks going to the huge corporations while we pay ALL our property taxes and corporate and personal taxes. So how exactly is that free market? You Conservatives like to talk the talk, but you certainly have issues with the walk!
To all of the Democratic posters on this site: Stay up beat and don't let the other side get you down. We will prevail. We have an intelligent President in the White House and he will not fail. Remember, the middle class of this nation has always had to fight for we have gotten and I am not ready to give up or give in. I get frustrated with some of the agitators but then I remember what my dad would tell me before he passed away and that was " anything worth having is worth fighting for".
Let's stay focused and remain hopeful!!!!
I second that motion and voted!
Me too, I voted. Never let the bast###s get you down. Remember, YES WE CAN!!!! We did before and we'll do it again. Count on it.
