This is going to be pretty interesting-- I hope that they ask him about them paying Google to redirect searches-- what they did is so foul that it begs being addressed. British Petroleum does not control our Freedom of Information...do they?
You know what else if foul?
The incestuous relationship between the Dick - BP & Halliburton. I've been doing some research and what I'm finding is beyond SICK!
Hope to get it all together some time this week!
I guess they consider that "paying the cost of cleaning up the mess"...if we pay Google to deflect the searches it will appear as if there was not oil spill.
I had all of that research some time ago-- even Cheney's involvement in the middle east prior to the 911 attack. It's all about oil and dollars to tricky Dick number two. I just want to see his old evil ass prosecuted. Forget about Executive privileges-- he owes us...
Makes you angry doesn't it?
Da Noid:
I really didn't know what to think when my searches were redirected to local nothing information sights. I am DEAD serious about legal action; because I couldn't get my work completed for being redirected. They have gone too far.
Now, now...Dick Cheney did nothing wrong when it comes to BP, Haliburton and the Deep Horizon well.
His family mouthpiece...er...daughter, Liz, told us so herself!
Hey Red like I was saying this weekend when following the technical side it will make you seriusly angry. For instance some one posted yesterday that the tankers to take some of the oil out of the water were specially fitted out and in use some where else. What they didn't say was that it takes less than a week to reconfigure them and most of the work could be done while their on the way to the site.B.P just not has been willing to write a big enough check to make it it happen. Check out the records from the Cheney W.H. meetings and look at the list of the executives and companies that were in there at least six times back in '01.
I would be eternally greatful if you guys would direct me/the rest of us to where you find your info on Cheney energy meetings, etc.
BamaBoy
Hey Bama boy is that you I hadn't seen you since the change. I don't have the means to give a link or any thing here put if you pull up White house records from late of '01 that will give you a list of the oil industry execs that were at energy meetings there on at least six different occasions. As far as exactly what was agreed to at those meeting no one but the folks that were there know exactly what was agreed to because in the freedom of information case that was filed trying to get access the court upheld the Executive privilige side. The evidence of some kind of agreement being reached seems to be in the collective actions of both parties after the fact. Hope that helps a little
If she holds true to what she's done in the past, count on Maddow to unearth some (a LOT) of this, and air it.
Umm.. Well yes, Indi. Redneck, VA. It is, I, BamaBoy. After the change of format here I could no longer go incognito, as it were, but no big deal. Thank you for the heads up on the location of the info. Also, drive-by, I too listen to Maddow. I think she knows how to really dig up the facts on things. She spins it to the left but not too badly.
Oberman, on the other hand can make me wince from time to time with his left handed pitching but, ya know, neither one of them can get near Beck's level of bull@!$%#ting...The few times I've watched him I have been absolutely disgusted at the lying and insinuation.
Still, having said all of that, I endeavor to remain an independent and see no reason yet to change that perspective.
Looks like Tony the Eco-terrorist won't be getting his life back anytime in the near future!
What a SHMUCK!
It will need at least on extra large popcorn. I hope they hand him his miserable a$$ and put him on notice, crimnal charges pending. There is no way that company is telling the truth about anything they say they are doing or going to do. I am beyond heartsick and feel powerless which makes me angry.
"A small group of committed people can make a difference and change the world"....Margaret Mead
To that I add "Yes We Can"
Funny you bring up the popcorn? I stocked up last weekend :0)
I swear a laugh here and there sure alleviates all the pain I'm feelin these days!
You got altotta 'splainin' to do, Tony.
Lived right on the gulf for many years. The waterline was but 40 feet from my back door. Naturally with such access I spent many many hours walking the shoreline and taking my small skiff out in the evenings. Much of the gulf (that which is closes to land) is what is called the flats, water no more than 5 - 8 feet deep for quite a distance until the ocean floor begins to slant and deepen many yards from shore. The flats allowed a person in a small skiff to drift slowly over these areas and while looking over the side of the boat to see the ocean floor. In addition one could see sea turtles swim under your boat, sting rays floating by in couples, sea horses dancing next to a wooden mile marker, families of manatess (the gentle giants) grazing the bottom of the ocean floor. At times young sharks no more than 2 to 3 feet long would swim by showing their power and strength even at such a young age. And the sand dollars, thousands of them just beyond your reach. I raised my son in this environment who in his little 8 ft. dinghy made friends with many of these creatures. They were his backyard buddies.
Frankly, I don't give a crap about Tony Hayward, BP and the political infighting going on over this spill. I detest all the TV pundits who think they know what is right and what needed to be done, left and right, liberal and conservative. Joe Scarborough is one of the worst. Rush Limbaugh says the leak is a natural occurrence and that nature will take care of itself. Limbaugh is not even a human being. He is worse. Fox News attempts to politicize this event and it makes me sick. I could go on. But I don't care about any of these people or anyone else involved in the blaming game. I think humans are not even close to being the proper keepers of this planet as they should, as God intended. They don't care, they care only of their own well-being, and they trash this beautiful planet. I would not be opposed to living alone with these friends from the ocean and if all other humans were to disappear. It would be fine by me.
CA - Thanks for the brief moment of calm during today's usual storm. I've never seen either manatees or seahorses up close and personal, so thanks for the imagery. Your son had a good teacher.
When I can, I like to spend time over at the John Heinz Wildlife Refuge near the Philadelphia Airport not far from where I live. I never get tired of watching the herons, egrets, turtles, etc. - we even have a family of bald eagles, though I've yet to spot them myself. And it never ceases to amaze me that a peaceful oasis like this exists so close to the chaos of the airport and I-95 - it's like being in another world sometimes.
Unfortunately, its proximity to the airport also means it's near the oil refineries along the Delaware River, and several years ago there was a leak in one of the underground pipelines (Sunoco, not BP) that caused a lot of damage to the ecosystem there - a drop in the bucket compared to this current spill, but nonetheless devastating, and it took what seemed like forever for things to start coming back to normal after the cleanup. Two years later, I can remember running into one of the rangers when I'd be out walking and he was still asking if I'd spotted any turtles and where and what kind. I still find myself keeping an eye out for them. The good news is that the damage WAS eventually cleaned up. Well, at least the damage from the oil spell - keeping Darby Creek free of trash, toxins and old tires is an on-going battle.
But it's a battle that requires people to be the soldiers - the critters still need a few of us around to clean up after the rest of our species. I have no way of getting down to the Gulf, but I've gotten into a bad habit of sitting here staring at this computer all day and halfway into the evening, then going home and watching idiot tv. Maybe tonight I'll go over there and pick up some trash instead.
Thanks for the reminder.
JoAnne:
Ok, you can stick around when all other humans disappear. But if you do, and even though I like your home town, take a leave from Philadelphia and come on down to the gulf. Then you can see all these beings living in their natural habitat. And if you like manatees, which can weigh tons, I'll show you how to wade next to them and they will even let you pet them if they sense you are nice, as will the dolphins when they are in a playful mood. Once when fearing my son (who was 8 at the time) was in trouble while on a sandbar because he was out of his dinghy and there was a great deal of splashing going on, I quickly motored out to the sandbar to check it out, only to realize when I arrived that he was simply being kept company and being entertained by a school of dolphin who were getting a kick out of nudging him off his feet to see him fall in the water. He would get up, laughing and giggling and they would gently knock him off his feet again. These are the moments I recall when reading about the current oil spill.
Thanks for the invite! My only visit to Alabama thus far was a few years back when I was drafted to help my step-father drive his and my Mom's 36-foot RV back up this way from down near Brownsville, TX. In looking at a map just now, I see that since we pretty much stuck to I-20, we must have come right through Tuscaloosa, but I barely remember - Mom was recovering from recent bypass surgery and a stroke and my main memory was a nightmare trip to an ER in some small town along the way. That, and the fact that I had very little experience driving anything that big - what did I.R. in VA call them the other day - "land yachts"? - anyway, I was totally focused on the highway in front of me the whole time. Hopefully you were safe at home that day.
Let's hope I have a chance to come back to Alabama some day and see the Gulf you described. In the meantime, thanks again for the lovely images.
mmmmmmmm mmmm mmm Barack Petroleum OilBama............... is he going to talk about Rahm's free apartment from BP, how BP was the Teddy Kennedy of the oil industry so they had to get in bed with the Greenies to conspire against America? mmmmmmm mmmmm mmmmm Who is Sylvia V. Baca?
PS: Like GE I hope BP goes bankrupt but just like these banks. No one will go to jail and the Progressive traitors will use them to hurt the rest of us and "herd us" in the direction they deem fit.
You must love Glenn Beck !!
Or love being herded by him.
This is a waste of time and just another op for the members of Congress to grandstand. These guys need to be testifying in a court of law with full subpoena powers and sure penalties for perjury. All that will happen in a Congressional hearing is the same dissembling that we have been hearing and will be hearing for the foreseeable future. Either that or get out the concreate and the dull knife.
Yup.
Either that or write an executive order and start fining BP per day for lack of results.
Excellent idea Michael and while he's at it... force them to cease this 50 Million $$ advertising blitz!
Every time I see the smug smirk on Tony's face staring at me from across the room I want to throw a shoe at him!
Right now the 50 million could be of much better use down in the Gulf!
I'm pretty much along the lines of the post you put up earlier along the week Michael. If we fine them out of existance they are going to skate. We need to start siezing assets that are going to stay productive for the forseeable future before they start disapearing into offshore bank accounts. As Red brings up maybe start with the ad budget and use it to rent some tankers. That idea that I put up the other week about landing a load of Marines on one producing well a day was half in jest but is starting to look better and better every day
I certainly don't trust the two corrupt conservatives on the House Energy Committee to get to the bottom of how irresponsible BP Oil and Tony Baloney Wayward Hayward have been. Stupid Stupak is just another Blue Dog Democrat who has been bought off by big corrupt corporate money. We need some sharp Liberals questioning corrupt corporate cirminal Hayward, not some corrupt corporate criminal hugging conservatives. They should bring Corporate Criminal Hayward in bright orange prison jumpsuit and wrist and ankle shackles, make him frog walk the perp walk.
Call me a conspiracy theorist...but I feel like BP is keeping from us an easy and permanent way of stopping the leak because it would mean shutting the oil well forever...this way they keep doing stuff that will allow them to eventually continue pumping oil out of this thing...as with the relief wells. They are going to make all their money back from this people from the oil spewing from this disaster. The Feds better go after them with a major lawsuit that essentially takes all profits away from BP for the next decade or two. Going out of business? Only if all the money they've got goes to an oil clean up fund.
Pat...
At first I found myself giving BP the benefit of the doubt... but as time drags on and the lies flow so freely I've started to come around to that theory myself!
Looking more and more like they're not REALLY concerned about stopping it... just how they can grab what they can to make a profit... and what's heartbreaking is look at the COST of that profit!
This manufactured outrage of the Obama is disgusting, so disingenuous. He shouldn't have allowed the continuation of granting waivers for deep water drilling in the first place, and then he should have been more responsive to the disaster up front, getting super tankers to clean up like they did off of Saudia Arabia some years back. Now he's gonna 'kick their ass', and fire some body. Yeah, and when the spotlightis gone, it'll be business as usual. We need a third party to keep the two corporate parties honest.
The waivers were granted based upon info received from the you-know-who administration. BTW- are those super tankers pretty good at sucking up 'plumes'?
I dont beluive that thy can do that becous they are not stubed to doit. nagi naim
How long before we see Tony 'Baloney" appearing of Fox. You know- to explain the absence of 'plumes' or how he's now pulling half a million gallons out of that broken pipe a day, when the total flow volume is (supposedly) nowhere near that.
