Elizabeth Edwards is denying a report that she is grooming her oldest daughter, Cate, to take care of her youngest children when she dies.
"There is no truth whatsoever to the story that I am trying to deny John custody of the children after my death," Elizabeth wrote me in an email.
The New York Daily News reported that Elizabeth was trying to deny John Edwards custody of their children, Emma 12, and Jack, 10, to keep them away from Rielle Hunter. Elizabeth called the story "nonsense."

And people wonder why Pres Obama and presidents before him get disgusted with the media? This belongs in one of those tabloid papers. John Edwards was unfaithful to his wife, that doesn't mean he is a bad father or that he doesn't love his children or that Elizabeth would deny him the right to be their father; same goes for Gov Sanford.
This is about as LOW as you can go!
And I wasn't sure journalism could go any lower! Leave her & her kids alone! Unlike Bible Spice she does NOT use her kids as political props!
I really wish people would leave Mrs. Edwards in peace. I have little use for her husband, but there is no need to pull Mrs. Edwards into the mess that John created. Not sure I like this format, it is not very reader friendly. Does it really need to be so large?

Wow, what a crock of crap!! I thought first read was supposed to update political news, this isn't political news, it's conjecture, guessing, tabloidism at its worst.
Time for Liz Edwards to stop her soap opera in public and just go away. She's been trying too hard to make her little tempest in a teapot breakup national news. Yes John Edwards was a jerk but she should have known better than to let her looks go considering she married a pretty boy. This is not a story deserving of being in First Read, please be more discerning regarding posting obvious socialite garbage in politics.

Are you completely brain dead ,Obama is the worst thing that has ever happened to America he and Pelosie are turning our country into a socialist nation right before our eyes and there is not one darn thing we can do about it.Obama should be sending thousands of national guards to protect our borders ,instead he sends a mere handful and most of them are pencil pushers ,Obama won't even protect Americans from all of the crimes of robbery,murder,kidnapping that the illegals are inflicting on our border state citizens, if you lived in one of the border states you would be thinking differently.I didn't like Mccaine but at least he would not have spent all of that money Obama has been spending ,America is broke and he has us so far in dept it will take 2 generations to get us out. Another thing what do you think would happen if fifty thousand americians went to another country and marched in their streets like the illegals are doing?we would be arrested or even shot ,yet Obama don't care,He just wants to make all of them legal so they will vote for him in 2 1/2 years because he knows full well that is the only way he will be reelected.
To talk about this woman and her children this way is shameful. I am certain of the fact that she has a terminal illness is scary to her and her family. Facing an illness like this tremendously stressful, privacy is such a little thing to ask at a time like this. Exploitative, to say the least. The rants of some are completely off subject and makes you wonder who let some of these folks out.
